Panoramics

I have selected two photos that I took in the village of Ta O in Hong Kong, when combined they you have the photograph below.

Tai O Hong Knog

The software that I use is Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Bridge, there is other software available, I have been using Photoshop since version 1.5 and know my way around reasonably well.

If I feel like playing around I'll use Photoshop and manually combime everything.

If I want to get everything over and done with I open Adobe Bridge.

You are stuffed from the beginning if you don't take your photographs keeping in mind that you shall be creating a panoramic as the end result.

What you need is:

1 - overlaping image, without a decent overlay you cannot blend the images together.

Overlap

2 - a level playing field, in otherwords if there is a horizon keep it as close as you can to the same position in the viewfinder, if the horizon is one third of the way down from the top of the viewfinder then keep it one third of the way down the viewfinder in all following photographs.

If you are a perfectionist use a tripod and level bubble to keep your horizon level, where these photographs were taken was extremely busy, a tripod would have taken up too much room, I usually travel with a monopod, a 5 inch tripod and a small clampod, that connects to railings, posts and branches.

Technique 1 - Adobe Bridge

1 - select the photographs that you are using in the "Content" viewer

2 - select "Tools/Photoshop/Photomerge"

3 - for now leave the Photoshop selector at "Auto"

Auto setting

Don't be too concerned br the shape of the right side you ca nmanually adjust that in Photoshop.

This one is using the selector at "Cylindrical"

Cylindrical setting

This one is using the selector at "Reposition"

Reposition setting

Reposition looks the way to go for this Panoramic, all I need do now is crop the top and bottom in photoshop.

Page 2 using Photoshop manually create a Panoramic to follow.
