Resealing Chainplates
— 23rd April 2009

Bow chainplate let a lot of water in.
Drill out the old pop rivets, clean off the old sealant and in this case dirt.
The plate has a slight bow in it, I forced sealant down the holes and gap then added a bit more to so I could force out all the air, I'm hoping to create a good seal here.
The Rivets that I have used are sealed stainless 4.8mm Diam (3/16") with a grip of 9.6mm (3/8")
I've used sealed pop rivets, then cleaned up the excess sealant.

The ladder isn't very comfortable to sit on.

The starboard chainplate had a lot of sealant on the outside, shame it still leaked a lot.
Here is the starboard chainplate cleaned up and resealed.
